Upon arrival in Kathmandu, you will be greeted by representatives from Tethys Himalayas and transferred to your hotel. After some rest, a briefing session will be held to discuss the trek, followed by a welcome dinner in the evening.
Explore the UNESCO World Heritage sites of Kathmandu, including Pashupatinath Temple, Swayambhunath Stupa, and Patan Durbar Square. Later, we conduct final preparations, ensuring all gear and permits are in place.
A scenic flight takes us to Nepalgunj, a bustling city near the Indian border. Spend the evening exploring the local markets and preparing for the remote journey ahead.
A short flight brings us to Juphal, the gateway to Dolpo. From here, we trek through lush landscapes and traditional villages to reach Dunai, the district headquarters of Dolpo.
Leaving Dunai, we follow the trail along the Bheri River before entering the lush forests of Shey Phoksundo National Park. The night is spent at Chhepka, a small settlement surrounded by dense vegetation.
A steep climb brings us to a ridge with breathtaking views of Phoksundo Lake. The turquoise waters of the lake and the stunning surrounding landscapes make this a highlight of the trek.
We spend the day exploring the beautiful Phoksundo Lake and visiting Ringmo village. A short hike leads to a stunning viewpoint showcasing the entire lake.
Today’s trail takes us along the western side of the lake before heading north through rugged terrain. We set up camp near Phoksundo Khola for the night.
The trail becomes more challenging as we ascend towards Snowfields Camp. The barren yet striking landscapes of the Dolpo region provide an adventurous experience.
A tough climb over the Kang La Pass rewards us with panoramic views of the Tibetan Plateau. Descending into the valley, we arrive at Shey Gompa, an ancient monastery known as the “Spiritual Heart of Dolpo.”
We take a rest day to explore Shey Gompa and its surroundings, including the famous Crystal Mountain, a sacred pilgrimage site for Buddhists.
Leaving Shey Gompa, we trek through highland pastures and cross another high pass before reaching Namgung, a traditional settlement with a centuries-old monastery.
A relatively easier trek takes us to Saldang, the largest village in Upper Dolpo. The village offers insight into Tibetan culture, with its whitewashed houses and Buddhist monasteries.
A detour takes us to Yangze Gompa, one of the most isolated monasteries in Dolpo. The village follows the ancient Bon religion, adding a unique cultural experience.
We retrace our steps to Saldang, taking a different route through barren yet striking landscapes.
The trek continues through high-altitude terrain, passing traditional settlements and yak pastures before reaching Komash.
A scenic trek leads us to Shimen, a beautiful village with ancient monasteries and warm hospitality.
Crossing multiple ridges, we reach Tinje, a historically significant village known for its ancient trade route to Tibet.
Today, we traverse through remote landscapes, encountering local herders and breathtaking Himalayan views.
A long and rewarding day as we descend towards Jomsom, re-entering a more populated region. The change in landscape is remarkable.
A short but scenic flight brings us to Pokhara, where we enjoy the comforts of lakeside cafes, a relaxing ambiance, and beautiful mountain views.
We take a flight back to Kathmandu, where a farewell dinner is organized by Tethys Himalayas to celebrate the completion of our trek.
After an incredible journey through Upper Dolpo, you will be transferred to the airport for your onward journey, carrying unforgettable memories of this mystical land.
